Yves Robert (born January 17, 1958 in Chamalières ) is a French trombonist of modern creative jazz .

Robert studied at the Vichy Conservatory until 1976 and was then active in the jazz clubs of Lyon and Nancy . He came into contact with the jazz avant-garde through Nancy Jazz Action and especially through the Association à la Recherche d'un Folklore Imaginaire (ARFI) and their big band Marmite Infernal . He then worked with the Franco-German jazz ensemble (under Albert Mangelsdorff and Henri Texier ) as well as with Didier Levallet , Steve Lacy , Chris McGregor , Louis Sclavis , Gil Evans and the Orchester National de Jazz . He continued to perform with André Jaume , Heiner Goebbels , Marc Ducret , Daniel Humair , Wolfgang Reisinger , Andreas Willers , Daniel Erdmann and Joëlle Léandre . Since the early 1990s he has had his own groups with which he has made guest appearances at European festivals.
