Zentrifugal (short: Z-Fu) was a German hip-hop group from Bremen , which consisted of Bas Böttcher and DJ Loris Negro.

history

The duo got to know each other in Bremen in the early 1990s because they both went to the same upper level, the Alte Gymnasium in Bremen. Since both were interested in older vinyl records , they discovered musical similarities and formed a permanent music duo.

Both decided that they would not follow the American rap style, but would put together independent, experimental musical works. With this approach, they created a basis for a harmonious mixture of street culture and poetry.

Böttcher's rap poetry is reminiscent of American slam poetry . In the early 1990s Bas Böttcher was one of the first slam poets to travel through Germany. Worldwide appearances followed.

In 1994 the duo won a young talent competition in Bremen, the prize for studio recordings. Their first vinyl record in single format was released as an independent publication in the same year . It is entitled Poetry and Truth and contains four pieces of music. The 1000 copies were sold at concerts and hip-hop jams . Also in 1994 they contributed a song for the Nordseite sampler .

In 1996, the duo's first album, Poetry Album, was published by Indigo, comprising 14 pieces of music .

In 1998 Z-Fu published the title Nachtfahrt on the inside compilation .

For the CD Rosebud Red of the European Capital of Culture 1999, Weimar , they contributed the piece of music clenched fist . The CD contains Nietzsche and Goethe texts set to music.

The second centrifugal album was released at Jive Records at the end of 1999 under the title Tat or Truth and contains a musical mixture of jazz elements, raggamuffin and meditation music , coupled with poetically performed rap.

After a major tour through the USA , Canada , Great Britain , Ireland , Brazil , Bolivia , Peru , Colombia , Mexico , France and many other countries, the group split in 2001.
