Zatyki (German Kattern ) is a village in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northeastern Poland . The place belongs to Gmina Zalewo in Powiat Iławski .

Zatyki is located in the moraine landscape of the Oberland , about four kilometers southeast of Zalewo.

history

The place appears in the sources first as Satheken ( order tome 161), then as Kathreyn (large interest book).

Hakenzinsdorf

Kattern was founded by the Teutonic Order as a Hakenzinsdorf . The place comprised 39 hooks, of which three hooks became the property of a small free one after 1400. This estate , which only differed from the other Prussian farms in terms of its legal position, later became the nucleus of the manor.

In 1470 the Grand Master Heinrich von Richtenberg assigned the two villages of Katherndorff and Scherpau to Magdeburg law to Hans Falkenhayn for the sake of his services in the last war . It is attested there in 1484. The prescription was renewed in 1531 for Sebastian von Falkenhain (now over 22 Hufen). In the years 1594 and 1599 a Florian von Falkenhain is attested as the hereditary lord on Kattern and other properties. In 1628 the widow of Hans von Falkenhain received permission from Elector Georg Wilhelm to sell the goods at Kattern and Kuppen and the monastery at Saalfeld .

From 1785 to at least 1836, at the latest, Kattern was managed as a preliminary work for the neighboring Mitteldorf manor. In 1785 there were 15 fire places in Kattern. In 1848 the statistics for the administrative district of Königsberg led Kattern as a stable manor with its own patrimonial jurisdiction . It housed 130 residents in eleven residential buildings, all of them Protestant and German-speaking.

In the second half of the 19th century, Kattern had the status of an estate district . In 1874 this was subordinated to the Kuppen administrative district in the Mohrungen district . In the course of a regional reform (dissolution of the manor districts in Prussia), Kattern was incorporated into the neighboring rural community of Sorbehnen in 1928 . The administrative affiliation to the municipality and district remained unchanged until 1945.

Zatyki since 1945

After the incorporation into the Polish state, the German residents were expelled and replaced by Poles. Kattern was added to the newly formed Gmina Zalewo and renamed Zatyki by ministerial decree of April 4, 1950. Zatyki is also looked after by the Schulzenamt in Rąbity.
