Zbigniew Andres

Zbigniew Andres (born December 12, 1934 in Kurzyna Mała ) is a Polish literary historian and literary critic who mainly deals with 20th century Polish literature and especially with representatives of peasant literature ( Nurt chłopski ) such as Stanisław Czernik and Kazimierz Wierzyński . He was a professor at the University of Rzeszów .

Life

During the German occupation of Poland and in the first post-war years, Andres attended elementary school in Kurzyna Średnia and then the grammar school in Ulanów , where he graduated from high school in 1952 . After a brief activity in the power station and in the smelter in Stalowa Wola , he began studying Polish studies at the Catholic University of Lublin in 1953 , which he had to interrupt due to an accident.

In 1954, Andres obtained a teaching qualification for elementary school in the Państwowy course Nauczycielski in Przemyśl . From 1954 to 1960 he worked at several primary schools and from 1960 to 1968 took over the management of the primary school in Wólka Niedźwiedzka ( Sokołów Małopolski municipality ). In 1962 he married the math teacher Maria Surowiec. In 1963 he received a recommendation to study at the Pedagogical University in Krakow . In 1968 he obtained a master's degree in Polish Philology from the Pedagogical University in Rzeszów . From 1968 to 1975 he worked as a Polish teacher at the grammar school in Leżajsk .

In 1975 Andres received his doctorate with the font O prawdziwy obraz wsi. Z polemik literackich dwudziestolecia międzywojennego at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and then worked at the Pedagogical University in Rzeszów. From 1977 to 1985 he headed the Institute for Polish Literature of the 20th Century and Literary Theory. In 1985 he qualified as a professor with the font Faktografia i mity. Proza pisarzy o rodowodzie chłopskim lat 1918-1939 at the Pedagogical University in Rzeszów, where he lectured from 1986 and held a professorship from 1990. In 1995 he again headed the Institute for Polish Literature of the 20th Century and in 1999 became director of the Institute for Polish Philology. In 2000 he became a full professor . Andres retired in 2004, but continued to lead seminars.

He lives in Rzeszów.
