The Auguste colliery was a hard coal mine in the Witten district of Auf dem Schnee , which was in operation from 1922 to 1943. The mine was probably previously called Augusta im Hördeschen . The mine has been shut down three times in its 23-year history.

In 1920 the rightful owner was leased by the Prussian state. The size of the authorized person was a square . Operations began on September 1, 1922, and two tonnage shafts were sunk on Hackertsbergweg . The shaft 1 had a depth of 80 meters and 2 shaft reached a depth of 75 meters. In 1924, the Mark electricity company acquired the Kuxen majority . In the same year, work began on shaft 3, which took several tons. In 1927, shaft 3 reached a shallow depth of 160 meters. The base of the building was set at a depth of 35 meters and was therefore + 171 m above sea level.

From April 1, 1928, the mine was temporarily closed. Commissioning again on October 1, 1929, but only equipment and fixtures . On December 1st of the same year the mine was closed again. On May 1, 1930, the mine was put back into operation. In 1935 the daily facilities of the mine were renewed. The mine was finally closed on July 31, 1943.

In 1954/1955 the construction site was acquired or leased by the Gottessegen colliery.

Workforce and Promotion

In 1923, 24 miners were working on the mine. A year later the workforce was 44 miners, 1630 tons of hard coal were mined. In 1925 the workforce sank to 42 miners and the production fell to 1630 tons. In 1930 the production sank to 238 tons, the workforce was 19 miners.

In 1932, production rose to 12,236 tons of hard coal. The promotion was provided by 33 miners. In 1935 a total of 16,368 tons of coal were mined with 55 miners. In 1938 56 miners were working on the colliery , the production sank to 11,513 tons of hard coal. The maximum production was achieved in 1940 with 59 miners, it was 16,923 tons.
