Schnee is a district of Rüdinghausen , Witten ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The district does not have its own district number .

history

General

Snow (colloquially: on the snow ) owes its name to the place name "op de Schnae". What is meant is the so-called brand boundary between the Eichlinghofen and Ender Marks . In the Middle Ages, this border ran over a ridge of the Ardey Mountains , to mark it, so-called Schnade trees were planted. The name "Aufm Schnee" appears for the first time in 1768 in a document . In 1825 the name "Auf dem Schnee", which is still colloquial today, was recorded for the first time in the Rüdinghausen church book.

Until 1825 the name "Droben am Chaussewege" was in use among the population . Due to various community reforms in the 19th century, the area "Auf dem Schnee" was divided several times. This leads to the curiosity that the snow is now distributed over three cities. Witten and Dortmund share the majority of the surface also includes portions of snow to Herdecke .

Church history

Around 1800, the parish of Ende and Rüdinghausen quarreled over the new settlers in the Schnee district. On October 3, 1800, an official government decree was issued which equated the political and ecclesiastical parish boundaries. The parish since snow is part of the Rüdinghauser community.

Leisure time

The club grounds of the two nudist clubs SuN Witten and SuN Dortmund are located in snow . On both sites are u. a. an outdoor swimming pool , boules and tennis courts .

Sportfreunde Schnee , which emerged in 1967 from a company sports association, offer football , women's gymnastics , table tennis and chess .
