History and description
The tithe barn was built in 1692 and 1693. The broad, eaves - standing barn building consists of red rough stone masonry with a beaver -tail-covered hipped roof .
Under Landgrave Ernst Ludwig , the arsenal at the Kranichstein hunting lodge was built for par force hunting . For the operation of the stables at the hunting lodge, namely the accommodation of horses , dogs and hunting accessories , the tithe barn was built for the straw and hay required there.
After the par force hunt was abolished at the end of the 18th century, the tithe barn was used as a wooden warehouse for a long time .
