Zernikow is an inhabited part of the municipality in the Glöwen part of the municipality of Plattenburg in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is 4 kilometers south-southeast of Kletzke , the seat of the municipality of Plattenburg, 9 kilometers east of Bad Wilsnack and 19 kilometers southwest of Perleberg , the seat of the district of Prignitz.

The neighboring towns are Neu Schrepkow in the north, Schrepkow in the northeast, Vehlin and Klein Leppin in the southeast, Groß Leppin in the south, Plattenburg in the southeast, Haaren in the west, and Grube and Kletzke in the northwest.

The first written mention comes from the year 1488, at that time in the spelling to Tzernickow . And in 1548 the place is recorded in the spelling of Czernickow .

On December 31, 2001, Glöwen merged with seven other communities to form the non-official community of Plattenburg. The previous district of Zernikow became an inhabited part of the newly formed community.
