Zetzscha is a district of the city of Altenburg in the state of Thuringia .

geography

Zetzscha is located in the north of Altenburg and is divided into the villages of Oberzetzscha , Unterzetzscha , Rautenberg and Knau . The Leipzig – Hof railway line runs through the district .

history

The emergence of the places Ober- and Unterzetzscha goes back to the year 1206. Knau was mentioned for the first time in 1150 and Rautenberg in 1181.

After Unterzetscha was incorporated into Knau on April 1, 1935, the Zetzscha community was formed on July 1, 1950 by merging the communities of Oberzetzscha, Rautenberg and Knau with Unterzetzscha. During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus, the community Zetzscha came with the district Altenburg to the district of Leipzig , which since 1990 belonged to the district Altenburg Thuringia and opened in 1994 Altenburger in the district of the country.

The municipality of Zetzscha with its four districts was incorporated into the city of Altenburg on February 11, 1994. Since then it has been one of the three districts of the city of Altenburg.

In Oberzetzscha there is a renaissance manor house from the year 1567, which has been lavishly restored from 2006. On the upper floor is a plank room with paintings from the 16th to 19th centuries, which is typical for the Altenburg area. It was formerly used as a manor and has monument status. A decision has not yet been made about the possible future use as a community center and clubhouse.
