Location of Drescha in the city of Altenburg
Listed four-sided courtyard

Drescha is a district of the city of Altenburg in Thuringia .

geography

Drescha has an area of 0.6 km². The place merges seamlessly into the rest of the city and lies west of the city center, borders on the Schmöllnsche and the Johannisvorstadt and to the west on the district Steinwitz . The so-called German Bach flows past the place, which flows into the Blue Flood in Rasephas and belongs to the catchment area of the Pleiße .

history

Drescha was first mentioned as Trescouua in 976, when the place was donated to the Zeitz diocese by Emperor Otto II . Like Podegrodici, it is a Sorbian foundation. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the burgraves of Altenburg owned the place. Later Drescha belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies from the 16th century due to several divisions in the course of its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony- Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine duchies were reorganized in 1826, the place again became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg.

After the administrative reform in the Duchy, Drescha belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Altenburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920.

Drescha was incorporated into Altenburg on October 1, 1922. At that time, about 200 people lived in the place. The Bergschlösschen restaurant , whose building is still standing today, existed in the village .

Townscape

The urban development of the district, which has been supplemented by private homes in the last 40 years, is decreasing more and more in the west towards Steinwitz, so that a village character emerges. The old town center is located on Dreschaer Dorfstrasse and, despite its age, resembles a German street foundation . There are mainly hand-fronted goods on this instead of the large four-sided courtyards typical of the region . Only one of these is dominant, a little off the main street. The municipal cemetery, which resembles a park, borders Drescha to the east.
