Zhang Dianxiang

Zhang Dianxiang ( Chinese  张 奠 湘 , Pinyin Zhāng Diànxiāng , * 1963) is a Chinese botanist . He works as a curator at the “South China Botanical Garden Herbarium” (IBSC, Chinese  中科院 华南 植物园 标本 馆 ), a research facility of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou , Guangdong Province . In his Ph.D. -Thesis he described the systematics of the Burmanniaceae . Its botanical author abbreviation is " DXZhang ".

Career

In 1985 Zhang Dianxiang received a bachelor's degree in biology from the biological department of Hunan Normal University ( 湖南 师范大学 , Húnán Shīfàn Dàxué ) , in 1988 a master's degree at the South China Botanical Research Institute ( 华南 植物 研究所 , Huánán Zhíwù Yánjiūsuǒ ) in Guangdong and a doctorate in ecology in 1999 and systematics at the University of Hong Kong .

Research work

For many years Dianxiang Zhang focused on Leguminosae , Burmanniaceae and Corsiaceae .

He is concerned with combining data from a wide range of topics, from traditional taxonomic revision to the reconstruction of phylogenetic relationships based on morphological, palynological and molecular properties in order to explore the evolution of the pantropical genus Bauhinia and the cultivated kumquats , as well as with the evolution of pollination systems , the coevolution of flowers and pollinators and the effects of pollinator changes.
