Zhang Yajin

Zhang Yajin ( Chinese  张亚 津 , Pinyin Zhāng Yàjīn ; * 1974 in Shanxi Province ) is a Chinese architect and urban planner . She is one of four partners of the think and act tank ISA Internationales Stadtbauatelier and its managing director in Beijing . She also works as a foreign editor for the Chinese magazine "Community Design".

Life

Zhang studied architecture at Tsinghua University in Beijing, where she obtained her master's degree in 2000. After completing her academic training, she moved to Germany, where in 2001 she began her research on “Urban design in the development of cities in China” at the University of Stuttgart . In the same year she started working as a foreign editor for the Chinese magazine "Community Design" of China-Architecture & Building Press, and on the other hand she became a member of the urban construction studio in Stuttgart and expanded its area of ​​responsibility by setting up a new location in Beijing. In 2007, Zhang Yajin was appointed partner of the ISA International Urban Construction Atelier and at the same time managing director of the ISA International Urban Construction Atelier in Beijing. Her practical work focuses on the planning of new towns, on urban renewal and on special tasks such as airport cities, university cities and eco-cities. An example of this is the master plan for the Airport City Guangzhou, the Chongqing redevelopment quarter, the University City Guangzhou and the Eco New Town Nansha in Guangzhou. In the area of ​​research, Zhang Yajin's main focus is on New Town development. In 2012 she received her doctorate for her research on “New Cities - Model of Sustainable New Town Planning and its Application in China” at the University of Stuttgart . In the area of ​​teaching and further training, Zhang Yajin initiated the series of lectures and seminars "ISA Invites" in Beijing to promote the exchange of information between experts from research and practice.
