Zhongxiang ( Chinese  鐘祥 市  /  钟祥 市 , Pinyin Zhōngxiáng Shì ) is an independent city that belongs to the administrative area of ​​the independent city ​​of Jingmen , Hubei Province in central China.

Zhongxiang has an area of ​​4488 km² and 1,032,568 inhabitants (December 31, 2004). The city is nicknamed "City of Longevity" because the residents of Zhongxiang have the highest life expectancy in China (75.9 years), which is mainly due to the good air and water, but also the great respect that old people enjoy here , is attributed.

Attractions

The Xian tomb from the Ming Dynasty , located on the outskirts, is the burial place of Prince Xingxian and his wife, parents of Emperor Jiajing (reign: 1522–1566). The two were buried together on Mount Songlin near Zhongxiang. The grave with an area of ​​136 hectares is surrounded by high walls. The Xian Tomb, construction of which began in 1519 and was completed in 1540, is similar to the famous Ming Tombs near Beijing, but is larger in area. It is considered to be the only Ming Tomb ever discovered in southern China and is often referred to as the 15th Ming Tomb.
