The Zimmerbach is a 4 km long brook mainly in the area of the small town of Niedernhall , which flows downstream from the Neureuter Mühle in the neighboring town of Neuenstein in the Hohenlohe district in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg after a right-hand, western course, from the right into the lower Kupfer .

geography

course

The Zimmerbach arises approx. 0.7 km west-northwest of the hamlet Kemmeten in the Künzelsau district of Gaisbach in the small forest tip Kühhaus at about 371  m above sea level. NHN close to the city limits to the Neureuter district marking of Neuenstein. After a few steps on its western course, the stream emerges from the forest, but is not very far from the forest to the right. After about 600 meters, a dirt road crosses the route, here the Etzweide forest now also comes close to the run on the left. From this Waldenge the stream changes to the area of the small town of Niedernhall, a tree nursery is mainly on the left bank and it turns to the northwestern run, passing a newer and still under development (as of 2017) commercial zone in the Niedernhaller residential area Waldzimmer to the right of the run and passes through two ponds. After it has passed the living space itself, it now flows westwards from the castle ruins of Waldzimmer to around 324  m above sea level. NHN under the L 1044 Neufels –Niedernhall and changes from the clearing bay around Waldzimmer into its now more and more deepened forest valley.

After a long straight ditch, it now flows more and more south-westwards, past the Schellenberg on the left and the forest troughs Alte Kuhtränke on the opposite side, to the inlet of its longest tributary from the Niedernhaller Giebelhöfe in the north, then further home to the next larger one Side stream that drains the pond at Hermersberg Castle , last of all to the confluence of the Heuschopfs and the Brenntenberg . In the narrow open floodplain of this small river, it flows next to a field path crossing at about 235.6  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the lower copper .

The Zimmerbach is 4.5 km long and flows after this route about 135 meters below its origin, its mean bottom slope is about 30 ‰.

Catchment area

The Zimmerbach has a catchment area of 6.8 km², which in terms of natural space is entirely part of the Ohrnwaldriedel sub- area of the Kocher-Jagst plains . Because of the larger inflows only from the north side, the catchment area is heavily to the right.

Geologically, the stream begins its course just yet in the area of Quaternary deposited Lösssediment -Insel at Kemmeten and then quickly changes in the underlying tertiary Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt Formation ). After Waldzimmer, about halfway along the L 1044 road, the brook digs into the Upper Muschelkalk , in which it flows to its mouth. Several dolines indicate the karstification of the shell limestone. There is also a large loess sediment island on the highest areas of the northern catchment area. A fault line running from Kemmeten i to the southwest in the direction of Niedernhall in the northeast with the Hochscholle on the Zimmerbach side touches the uppermost catchment area, but runs mostly in the neighboring catchment area of the Forellenbach.

The highest point in the catchment area is on its eastern tip at around 390  m above sea level. NHN a little north of Kemmeten near the water reservoir. Behind the southern and left watershed that starts there , the Pfaffengraben and another, smaller tributary of the Kuhbach compete one after the other, followed by other immediate right tributaries of the Kupfer down the Kuhbach estuary down to that of the Zimmerbach. From here the border runs roughly northwards to the Niedernhaller Giebelhöfe; outside of the copper, its right brooks from the Kammerbergsklinge and from the direction of the Kohlplatte clearing are the only notable competitors here. The northern watershed begins at the gable courtyards, behind which the terrain drops rapidly into the valley of the Kocher . Here the catchment area extends to the southern edge of the hilltop settlement of Niedernhall, the northern watershed extends to the valley cut of the competitor Forellenbach . On this ridge, near the trout stream, the last part of the northeastern watershed runs back to the highest point at the Kemmeten water reservoir.

From the point of origin, the Gaisbach district markings of Künzelsau border on the right and the Neureut district markings of Neuenstein border on the brook on the left. Even before the hamlet of Waldzimmer and almost to the mouth, the Zimmerbach runs in the district of the small town of Niedernhall , to which by far the largest part of the catchment area belongs and the only three places in it, the residential area Waldzimmer right on the bank at the beginning of the middle course The hamlet of Giebelhöfe on the northern watershed and the hamlet of Hermersberg at the beginning of the last right tributary. Only its very last hundred meters in the open floodplain does the Zimmerbach run over Neureuter again.

Almost two thirds of the catchment area are forested, mainly with deciduous trees. The open areas are mainly around the gable farms and around Hermersberg on the ridge to the right of the run in front of the Kochertal, where the fields dominate, to a lesser extent in a tube on both sides of the upper reaches to Waldzimmer, where a tree nursery takes up the greater part of the area.

Mouth of the Zimmerbach from the right and finally northeast to 235.6  m above sea level. NHN approx. 0.7 km downstream of the Mühle residential area in the Neureut district of Neuenstein in the lower copper . The Zimmerbach is 4.5 km long and has a catchment area of 6.8 km².

Nature and protected areas

The Zimmerbach is an unobstructed, naturally meandering brook on its second half of the course from its crossing of the state road, which in places runs over limestone plates and on the bottom of which there is often block rubble. The water from the small hillside springs reaches the stream in parts via the underground karst aquifer.

From the longest tributary from the north towards the Giebelhöfe, the valley is part of the Kupfertal landscape protection area .
