Zinzi Chabangu (born September 28, 1996 ) is a South African long and triple jumper .

Athletic career

Zinzi Chabangu gained her first international experience at the 2013 World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where she was eliminated in the triple jump qualification with 12.36 m and failed to make a valid attempt in the long jump. Even at the Junior World Championships in Eugene the following year , she did not reach the finals in either discipline. In 2015, she won the bronze medal in the triple jump at the Junior African Championships in Addis Ababa with 13.03 m and was twelfth in the long jump with 4.95 m. She then took part in the Summer Universiade in Gwangju and failed to qualify for the finals in both competitions. At the Africa Games in Brazzaville, she placed fifth in the three jump with 13.00 m and seventh in the long jump with 6.08 m. In 2018 she won the silver medal at the African Championships in Asaba with 13.59 m behind the Nigerian Grace Anigbata and finished fourth in the long jump with 6.14 m. Then she was fourth at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava with 12.89 m.

In 2019, she retired from the World Student Games in Naples with 5.97 m in the long jump in qualification and was seventh in the triple jump with 13.42 m. At the African Games in Rabat , she won the bronze medal in the triple jump behind the Nigerian Anigbata and Jamaa Chnaik from Morocco with 13.59 m . In addition, she was fifth in the long jump with 6.15 m.

In 2019 , Chabangu became the South African triple jump champion.
