The Zipser Berg is 552  m above sea level. NN high mountain of the Franconian Alb in the urban area of Pegnitz in the district of Bayreuth , Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Zipser Berg is located in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park on the eastern edge of Franconian Switzerland , the northern part of the Franconian Alb. It is located between the core town of Pegnitz in the south-west and its village district of Zips in the north-east.

The Zipser Berg is particularly wooded on its northwest flank; its high elevations are used for agriculture. The Zipser Mühlbach flows through the valley north of the mountain in an east-west direction as an eastern tributary of the Fichtenohe , which passes the mountain to the west. Both rivers run in the area of ​​the mountain along a common section of federal roads 2 and 85 .

The Pegnitz − Zipser Berg airfield has been located on the Zipser Berg since 1975 . On the western flank of the mountain, near the northern Pegnitz district of Rosenhof , there is the ore dumps Johannis , a small high plateau with a former Johannessschacht , which was closed in 1967. An impressive 360-degree panorama can be enjoyed from the mountain .
