Ziyu He (* 1999 in Qingdao ) is an Austrian violinist of Chinese origin.

Life

Ziyu He started playing the violin at the age of five under the guidance of Prof. Xiangrong Zhang. Ziyu has lived in Salzburg since 2011 and studies violin with Professor Paul Roczek and viola with Professor Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum University. He attended master classes with Ivry Gitlis, Ani Schnarch, Schmuel Ashkenasi, Vadim Gluzman, Chaim Taub and Petru Munteanu in Keshet Eilon and in Salzburg.

In June 2012 he won the Szymon Goldberg Award of the Meissen Music Academy as the youngest participant across all age groups. At the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg 2012 he was selected as a prize winner. In 2014 Ziyu took part in the Eurovision Young Musicians competition for Austria . At the finals in Cologne he played Béla Bartók's violin concerto number 2 and won the first prize. The following year he won the Mozart Competition in Zhuhai in his age group and the International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen . In February 2016 he won first prize and the prize for the best interpretation of the commissioned work at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and two months later first prize in the Senior Division and three special prizes at the Yehudi Menuhin Competition in London as well as second prize and one Special prize at the 9th Leopold Mozart International Violin Competition in Augsburg .

At a young age, his concert activities took him to London, Gstaad , Israel , France , Germany , Sweden and Italy . He made his orchestral debut in his hometown of Qingdao in November 2012 with the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. In a concert with the Symphony Orchestra of the Mozarteum University under the direction of Hans Graf , Ziyu played the solo part in Prokofieff's G minor violin concerto in autumn 2014 .

Ziyu He plays the violin "Schneiderhan" (1715) by Antonio Stradivari , which was made available to him for one year by Beare's International Violin Society for winning the Menuhin Competition in 2016.

  • 2016 2nd prize violin and special prize "Kronberg Academy" in the Leopold Mozart Competition, Augsburg
