Zizernawank ( Armenian Ծիծեռնավանք ) is an Armenian monastery in the province kashatagh region of the de facto independent, but de jure Azerbaijan associated Republic of Artsakh . Zizernavank is just above the valley floor of the Aghawno River, only a few kilometers away from the border with Armenia .

The construction of the monastery can be dated to the 5th to 6th centuries. It is believed that relics of St. George were originally located in the monastery. It belonged to the Tatev diocese and was mentioned as a religious center in the 13th and 17th centuries. During the Armenian-Azerbaijani clashes in 1905, the local Armenian population fled and the facility remained unused for the following decades. At the end of the 20th century, several Armenian inscriptions on the building were vandalized, especially during the Nagorno-Karabakh War 1989-1992. After the conquest in the Nagorno-Karabakh War, the complex was renovated and the church of Zizernawank was consecrated again in 2001.

The three-aisled pseudo - basilica was built from large hewn blocks. While the main nave has a straight end, there are square niches at the end of the side aisles, which served as a treasury or martyrion . The vaulted ceilings are supported by squat, almost unadorned pillars. The only decoration on the walls is a frieze with a simple profile at the height of the vault. The design of the building is based on Byzantine models, but remains less detailed.
