Zoe Baker (born February 29, 1976 in Eckington , North East Derbyshire , England ) is a New Zealand swimmer . She swam for Great Britain until the end of 2004 .

Career

In the summer of 1996, Baker moved to Christchurch , New Zealand to train with Kim Swanwick . After he ended his coaching career in 1999, she started coaching herself. In the summer of 1999 she should swim her first European record in Sheffield.

2002 was Baker's most successful year to date. She swam a total of four world records, three times on the short course and one long course world record. In addition, she was able to secure the gold medal in the 50 m breaststroke at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester in her home country .

In January 2005, Baker decided to swim for New Zealand after having irreconcilable differences with UK team coach Bill Sweetenham .
