The Zoramiini are a tribe of the cardinalfish (Apogonidae) introduced in 2014, which consists of the two genera Zoramia and Fibramia . The fish come close to the coast in the Red Sea, on the coast of East Africa and Sri Lanka, on various islands of the Indian Ocean, in the western Pacific from Australia via the Philippines to Japan and on the coasts of the Solomon Islands , Santa Cruz Islands and Marshall Islands , as well as in Fiji , New Caledonia , Samoa , Tonga and Vanuatu .

features

Zoramiini species are 4.2 ( Zoramia viridiventer ) to 11 cm ( Fibramia lateralis ) long, are moderately elongated to high-backed and have a largely colorless to transparent, sometimes bluish shimmering body. The body and head including the cheeks, chest and gill cover as well as the caudal fin base are covered with comb scales. In front of the dorsal fin there are one to three round or comb scales and at the base of the pelvic fins there are two scales. The bone ridge on the preoperculum is smooth, the edges of the preoperculum are sawn. A basic phenoid is present. On the premaxillary, lower jaw and palate there are brush-shaped teeth that are arranged in one, two or many rows. The stomach and intestines are black, the peritoneum is silvery. There are five free hypuralia in the caudal fin skeleton . The caudal fin is forked.

The second dorsal fin spine is the longest. In some species of both genera it can be elongated like a filament. The first fin ray in the second dorsal fin is branched and the first fin ray of the anal fin is branched and segmented. The fifteen central rays of the caudal fin are segmented and branched, the upper and lower are unbranched. Each lateral line scale has a pore above and below the midline.

Genera and species

The Zoramiini tribe includes two genera with a total of nine species:
