occupation

To bow out a shroud (Original title: Vendo cara la pelle ) is a spaghetti western from 1968, in which Ettore Maria Fizzarotti directed. In the German-speaking area, the film ran in a considerably shortened version from September 25, 1970.

action

Ralph Magdalena, his brother Domenique and two cronies kill the farmer John Shane and his wife and daughter in order to get hold of the mine he discovered. A few years later, young Shane, the sole survivor of the robbery, returns to avenge his family. With the help of Stumpy, who also has a bill with Ralph Magdalena, he can first kill the brothers' two accomplices. He cures the leg wound he suffered from the widow Georgina Bennett and her son Kristian. Meanwhile, Ralph has learned of the presence and identity of Shane and tries to take him off by taking Georgina and her son hostage. However, Shane can kill all the crooks involved and free the woman.

Ralph flees with the young Kristian to his brother Domenique, who now lives as a monk in a monastery, because he cannot get over the injustice done. He leaves Kristian with Domenique, but is provided by Shane. Domenique is shot by his brother, who has no chance against Shane in a duel. Shane starts a new life with Georgina and Kristian.

criticism

Ulrich P. Bruckner noted, the film was a "meaningless, lengthy Western Ettore Maria Fizzarotti who then made no further contributions to this genre." Joe Hembus has (not only name) parallels to Shane back which refers to "Vice" 's assessment. Segnalazioni Cinematografiche were not very pleased: “The film follows all the hackneyed clichés of the Western all'Italiana with annoying monotony.” The Protestant film observer has a predominantly positive opinion : “Hard spaghetti westerns that are skilfully staged and focus on family relationships moves without defusing the brutal show effects. "
