action

The young kung fu fighter Lung ( Jackie Chan ) lives in China during the Ching Dynasty . When his grandfather, the rebel leader and adversary of General Yen, is killed, Lung grievously reproaches himself for leading the enemy to his grandfather himself.

Therefore, Lung begins to learn a special kind of Kung Fu from an old teacher who was also a witness to the murder. In this emotional kung fu special powers are developed through negative and positive feelings of the fighter. After the training, Lung succeeds in confronting and defeating the evil general with the help of the master.

criticism

“The directorial debut amazes with the care in the character drawing, which is unusual for the genre. As almost always, in the German version, his Cantonese humor turned into flat joke à la Spencer / Hill [...]. "

Remarks

  • Although produced on a smaller budget than Drunken Master , the film was an even bigger commercial hit and for some time the second-best-visited film in Hong Kong cinema history.
  • In Germany the film was distributed by the distributor of the porn producer Alois Brummer . He also had the less good film Wild bunch of Kung-Fu in the distribution, which he then cut together with scenes from the film with Jackie Chan and sold under the name Zwei Flail Beat Alles short and small . The success of this flick was rather low.
  • In Hong Kong the executive producer Lo Wei used the unused scenes of the film for the sequel Fearless Hyena II , but the other scenes of this film were then recorded by a double.
  • In the uncut DVD Superfighter 3 , the pictures on the sleeve are from masters of all classes , the names James Tien and Shih Tien are misspelled on the sleeve, the subtitles are sometimes too early and have many spelling errors.
  • Although the film is set in the Ching Dynasty , the master of the kung fu school wears glasses.
