Zylab is a manufacturer of eDiscovery software. The company was founded in Chicago in 1983 by a group of former Bell Laboratories employees and is based in Amsterdam and McLean, Virginia . It has further branches in u. a. Barcelona , London and Singapore .

history

The first software ZyINDEX was a tool written in Turbo Pascal for MS-DOS , with which texts could be indexed and searched. On an 80386 IBM PC with 33 MHz clock frequency and 4 MiB RAM , 10 MiB per hour could be indexed . In 1983, 3.25-inch hard drives had a capacity of up to 10 MB; the first 2.5-inch hard drive with 100 MB storage capacity was not to be available until 1991.

In 1991 ZyINDEX was supplemented by ZyIMAGE for optical text recognition, which was the first PC program to contain a fuzzy string algorithm to compensate for scan and OCR errors. That same year, ZyLAB Corporation was approved by the Information Dimensions Inc acquired.

In 1994 the ZyLAB division of OpenText | Information Dimensions Inc was sold to the newly founded ZyCo Incorporated, which also took over the ZyImage software from PT Partners. The main owner of ZyCo in 1994 was the C-Cubed Corporation of Alexandria .

In 1998 the indexing of e-mails and their attachments was implemented.

In 2000 the software was further developed into a complete content / data management system based on the XML standard.

In 2002 the Zylab International, Inc should be replaced by AuthentiDate Holding Corp. be taken over. The acquisition did not complete.

In 2010 the ZyLAB information management platform was published as e-discovery software.

In 2015, Gartner Inc. listed ZyLAB in the Leader Quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for E-Discovery software and rated the software as the best e-discovery software for covering the entire EDRM e-discovery framework.

2018 The ZyLAB One e-discovery software is released as SaaS and as an on-premises version.

The software will u. a. used by the Federal Customs Administration , the State Criminal Police Office of North Rhine-Westphalia and the European Office for Combating Fraud . Internationally, the software was z. Used, for example, in the investigations into the bomb attack on the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City , the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda , the ECCC against the Khmer Rouge and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia .
