(11547) Griesser is an asteroid that was discovered on October 31, 1992 by the professional astronomer Dr. Freimut Börngen was discovered in Tautenburg near Jena .
It bears the name of Markus Griesser , the longtime director of the Eschenberg observatory in Winterthur ( Switzerland ). Griesser is an internationally recognized observer of minor planets close to the earth. To date, he has contributed to the first orbit determination of around 300 newly found Near Earth Asteroids and discovered ten asteroids himself from the Eschenberg observatory in Winterthur between 2001 and 2009. Nine of them have now been named.
