(16781) Renčín is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on December 12, 1996 by the Czech astronomers Miloš Tichý and Zdeněk Moravec at the Kleť observatory ( IAU code 046) near the town of Český Krumlov in southern Bohemia .

The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .

The celestial body was named on March 9, 2001 after the Czech humorist and cartoonist Vladimír Renčín (* 1941).
