(17826) Norman Wisdom is an asteroid of the main belt , which on April 3, 1998 by the Australian amateur astronomer John Broughton by its private Reedy Creek Observatory ( IAU code 428) in Queensland , was discovered, Australia.
The asteroid was named on July 5, 2001 after the British actor Norman Wisdom (1915-2010), who achieved great popularity mainly in the second half of the 20th century due to his slapstick appearance. He stood on stage well into old age and was knighted on June 6, 2000 , after having been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1995.
