(1829) Dawson is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 6, 1967 by the Argentine astronomer Carlos Ulrrico Cesco and his American colleague Arnold R. Klemola at the El Leoncito Observatory ( IAU code 808) of the Felix Aguilar Observatory in Argentina has been discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Argentine astronomer Bernhard Hildebrandt Dawson (1890-1960), who held a professorship at the University of San Juan from 1948 to 1955 and in 1958 became the first president of the Asociación Argentina de Astronomía .
