(2108) Otto Schmidt is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on October 4, 1948 by the Russian astronomer Pelageja Fyodorovna Schain at the Crimean Observatory in Simejis .
The asteroid was named after the Russian astronomer, geophysicist, author and polar researcher Otto Juljewitsch Schmidt .
