Pelageja Feodorovna Schain
Pelageja Fjodorovna Schain ( Russian Пелагея Фёдоровна Шайн , née Sannikova (Санникова), * 1894 ; † August 27, 1956 in Moscow ) was a Soviet / Russian astronomer. In modern English literature her first name is given as Shayn , but in astronomical discoveries she is given the name PF Shajn . Nevertheless, her surname is often given in publications as Schajn and her first name as Pelageja .
Schain was the wife of Grigory Abramowitsch Schain (Григорий Абрамович Шайн), who was also a Russian astronomer.
Schain was co-discoverer of the periodic comet 61P / Shajn-Schaldach . However, the non-periodic comet C / 1925 F1 (Shajn-Comas Solá), also known as Comet 1925 VI or Comet 1925a, was discovered by her husband.
She discovered numerous asteroids and about 150 variable stars .
