(241418) Darmstadt is an asteroid of the outer main belt . It was discovered on October 31, 2008 by the German amateur astronomer Erwin Schwab at the Tzec Maun Observatory, Mayhill in the USA and initially had the provisional designation 2008 UX 201 . The discoverer had the telescope, which has a diameter of 35 centimeters, remotely controlled from his home in Egelsbach near Darmstadt via the Internet.
In July 2010, the asteroid was given the number 241418 and, at the suggestion of the discoverer, was named after the city of Darmstadt in southern Hesse . The publication appeared on July 26, 2010 in Minor Planet Circular number 71353.
