(2439) Ulugbek is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 21, 1977 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .
(2439) Ulugbek was named after the Timurid prince and astronomer Ulugh Beg (1394–1449) who built the Gurchani Zidsch observatory in 1428 and created a Zidsch-i-Sultani star catalog between 1420 and 1437 with the position information of 1018 and 992 stars let.
