(2709) Sagan is an asteroid of the main inner belt. He was on 21 March 1982 by Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station in Coconino County ( Arizona ), a branch of the Lowell Observatory discovered.
The asteroid was named on August 4, 1982 after the American astronomer and astrophysicist Carl Sagan .
