(2726) Kotelnikov is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 22, 1979 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis .
(2726) Kotelnikov was named after the Soviet electrical engineer Vladimir Alexandrowitsch Kotelnikow (1908–2005) who published the WKS sampling theorem for the first time in 1933, and who is now considered the nestor of Russian communication technology.
