(29668) Ipf is an asteroid of the central main belt that was discovered on December 9, 1998 by the Czech astronomer Miloš Tichý at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near Český Krumlov . Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had already taken place on September 15 and 22, 1993 under the provisional designation 1993 RM 17 at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile .

(29668) Ipf is named after the Ipf , a witness mountain on the western edge of the impact crater , which formed the Nördlinger Ries . The name was given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on February 14, 2014.
