(3271) Ul is an asteroid of the Cupid type that was discovered on September 14, 1982 by Hans-Emil Schuster at the La Silla Observatory .

It is named after a nocturnal moon spirit in the mythology of the Melanesians in the New Hebrides . Ul is the antagonist of Tortali, the spirit of the day and the sun. The name Ul also refers to a deity in a Belgariad fantasy saga by David Eddings .
