(4509) Gorbatskij is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on September 23, 1917 by the Russian astronomer Sergei Ivanovich Beljawski at the Crimean Observatory ( observatory code 094) in Simejis .

The asteroid was named on May 23, 2000 after the Russian astronomer Vitaly Gerasimowitsch Gorbatski (* 1920).
