(5653) Camarillo is a near-Earth asteroid of the Cupid type , which was discovered on November 21, 1992 by the American astronomers Eleanor Helin and Kenneth Lawrence at the Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California .

The celestial body was named after the city of Camarillo in Ventura County in the US state of California, which is located on the historic Camino Real and owes its name to the landowner Adolfo Camarillo.
