(6596) Bittner is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on November 15, 1987 by the Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near Český Krumlov .

At the suggestion of Jana Tichá and Martin Šolc, the asteroid was named after the Bohemian astronomer Adam Bittner (1777–1844).
