(685) Hermia is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 12, 1909 by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Lorenz in Heidelberg .
The origin of the name is not known. One guess it is derived from a character from William Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream .
