(8541) Schalkenmehren is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 9 October 1993 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 809).

The asteroid was named after the local community of Schalkenmehren in the Vulkaneifel , from which a small road leads to the Hoher List observatory on the mountain of the same name.
