(9141) Kapur is an asteroid of the main belt , October 16, 1977 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels at Palomar Observatory ( observatory code 675) in California was discovered.
The asteroid was named on August 8, 1998 after the Indian actor and film director Shekhar Kapur (* 1945), who was the first successful director from the Hindi film industry in Mumbai to also create award-winning films in British and American films.
