(9315) Weigel is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on August 13, 1988 by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( observatory code 033) in Thuringia .
On February 2, 1999, on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of his death, the asteroid was named after the German mathematician , astronomer, educator and philosopher Erhard Weigel (1625–1699), who earned services for standardizing the calendar system between Catholic and Protestant countries.
