Ákos Sziráki (* 1969 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian sculptor , painter and object artist living in Germany .

Live and act

When he was about twelve, Sziráki, who grew up in Budapest, moved to live with friends in Aachen with his mother, after his father had left the family and settled as an artist in Sweden. After graduation Sziráki studied from 1989 to 1994 at the Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht first design , but switched after only three months in the sculpture class. While still a student, Sziráki was involved in the organization of the 1st Biennial of European Academies in Maastricht in 1993 and took over the direction of the master class from Kazuo Katase .

After completing his studies, Sziráki returned to Aachen, where he worked as a painter, graphic artist and sculptor in a studio in the following years. Furthermore, in 1995 he was one of the founding members of the Federal Association of Visual Artists Aachen / Euregio eV (BBK Aachen) , a subdivision of the general association of the BBK, which he also headed as chairman until 1998.

During the first years of his artistic activity, Sziráki was involved in many group exhibitions in the Aachen, Maastricht and Cologne areas . In the mid-2000s he moved to Bedburg , where he bought a country house in the Grottenherten district and set up his own studio in the former barn that belonged to it. Here he joined the artist group “Elf im Glashaus”, which was founded in 2011 and has become an established term for sophisticated art in Bedburg. In addition, Sziráki is still represented at many exhibitions, meanwhile increasingly in the Rhein-Erft district , but also internationally in the Netherlands, China and Korea.

Sziráki's field of work mainly includes sculptures for public spaces and large-format paintings. But also the construction of light objects for larger rooms and other installations are part of his profession.
