Ñachoca is a scattered settlement in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Ñachoca is the largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Taraco in the province of Ingavi . The village is located on the Taraco Peninsula in the southern part of Lake Titicaca at an altitude of 3848 m on the northern coastal plain. Thirty kilometers further southeast is Tiahuanaco , the internationally known world cultural heritage site - ruins from the pre-Inca culture .

Ñachoca is located on the Bolivian Altiplano on Lake Titicaca between the Andean mountain ranges of the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Cordillera Central in the east.
The mean average temperature in the area of Lake Titicaca is around 9 ° C, the annual precipitation is 500–600 mm (see Juliaca climate diagram). The region has a distinct daytime climate, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 7 ° C in July and 12 ° C in December. Ñachoca is 106 kilometers by road west of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.
From La Paz, the paved road Ruta 2 leads 13 kilometers to El Alto , from there Ruta 1 another 63 kilometers in a westerly direction to Tiawanacu . From there an unpaved road leads via Pillapi San Agustín in a north-westerly direction to Taraco . Due to the historical population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Aymara population, in the municipality of Taraco 97.1 percent of the population speak the Aymara language .
