Ófalu ( German Ohfala , Croatian Faluv ) is a Hungarian municipality in the Pécsvárad district in Baranya County . It is located on the small Rák-patak river .

history

Ófalu was mentioned in a document in 1426. The place was destroyed during the Turkish invasion in the 17th century. The Perczel family settled in the place from 1740 new colonists. The first glassworks were built and operated by German settlers around 1760 . Due to the wooded surroundings, wood processing, such as wood carving or the construction of chairs, traditionally played an important role in Ófalu. In 1910 only 53 Hungarians (6%) and 747 Germans lived out of 800 inhabitants. In addition, 675 of the population were Roman Catholic. In 2016, only around 300 people lived in this village.
