Trip to Austria by the German warriors in 1938

The Austrian trip of the German warriors in 1938 was a propaganda event of the German gymnastics association . It took place at the end of March / beginning of April 1938 in the context of the annexation of Austria to the German Reich.

The national team with the 36 best apparatus gymnasts was divided into two groups of equal sporting value (Rank A under Martin Schneider , and Rank B under Hermann Ohnesorge ).

Course of the trip
Gymnastics performances of one of the two groups took place in Vienna's Great Concert Hall and in the Musikvereinssaal, in Leoben, Graz, Klagenfurt, Villach, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Linz, Wels and Bludenz. The Reich Sports Leader Hans von Tschammer und Osten gave speeches aimed at Austrian athletes. In newspaper reports it was said that the German athletes "help to make April 10th (meant: the referendum on the connection of Austria ) a complete success."
