Łukta [ ˈwukta ] ( German Locken ) is a village in the powiat Ostródzki of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with 4458 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

history

On the basis of the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Locken belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Locken, 600 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not cast any votes.
