Ōe Kenzaburō Prize
The Ōe-Kenzaburō-Preis ( Japanese 大江健三郎 賞 , Ōe-Kenzaburō-shō ) is a literary prize that has been awarded by the Kōdansha publishing house since 2006 on the occasion of two events . On the one hand, the award ceremony commemorates the 100th anniversary of the publishing house and, on the other hand, the 50-year writing career of Kenzaburō Ōes . The selection of the winner is entirely up to Ōe. Instead of a prize money, the award-winning work will be translated into another language such as English, German or French. Instead of an explanation of the selection and a criticism of the work, a public discussion between Ōe and the award winner will take place, which will be published in the literary magazine Gunzō .
