Święte ( German  Schwendt ) is a village in the municipality of Stargard ( Stargard in Pomerania ) in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Święte is located in Western Pomerania , about four kilometers southeast of the city of Stargard and 36 kilometers east of the city of Stettin ( Szczecin ) near the river Ihna on the river Krampehl , which forms the municipal boundary to the village of Strachocin ( Zartzig ).

history

Village church (Protestant until 1945)

The village was formerly owned by Stargard and had to pay dues to various religious foundations in the city. Around the year 1780 there were eight full farmers in Schwendt , twelve Kossäts , four Büdner , a schoolmaster, an inn, which was inhabited by a Kossaten, and a total of 36 households. Around 1930, the district of Schwendt had an area of ​​5.2 km², and there were a total of 43 residential buildings in the municipality. Schwendt was the only place of residence in the community. In 1925 there were 246 inhabitants in Schwendt, who were spread over 62 households.

Until 1945 Schwendt belonged to the Saatzig district in the Pomeranian province .

Towards the end of the Second World War , Schwendt was occupied by the Soviet Army in early March 1945 . After the end of the war, the village was placed under Polish administration. Schwendt was renamed Święte . The local Polish administrative authorities subsequently drove the local population away .

The majority of the population present in Schwendt until 1945 belonged to the Protestant denomination. In 1925 there was a resident in Schwendt who belonged to the Catholic creed.

Mineral spring

About three kilometers south-east of the village, on the Krampehl River, a mineral spring, known as the Health Well, rises out of a mountain , which was widely visited in the 18th century.
