history
Like the Škoda 03T , the vehicle was developed by the Czech companies Škoda Transportation and the Inekon Group. Electrical components such as converters and control technology come from the Austrian company ELIN EBG Traction . It was manufactured by Škoda in Pilsen, while Inekon took care of marketing and shipping.
The first order was placed in 2000 from Portland , Oregon for the newly opened Portland Streetcar system.
The cooperation between Škoda Transportation sro and the Inekon Group ended in 2001, but vehicles were still delivered to Portland in 2002 and now also to Tacoma , Washington .
Škoda now continues to offer the 10T, while Inekon has entered into a cooperation with the Ostrava City Transport Authority ( DPO, Dopravní podnik Ostrava ) and has since been building a slightly modified version under the name 12 Trio . Three such vehicles were delivered to Portland, Oregon in 2007.
Locations
Between 2000 and 2002, a total of ten Škoda vehicles were manufactured in Pilsen, and these are only used in the USA .

United Streetcar 100
In August 2006, the American company Oregon Iron Works , based in Portland, signed an agreement with Škoda Transportation sro to build the vehicles under license in the USA. Up until then, there was no manufacturer of modern tram vehicles in the USA, so the transport companies had to buy their rolling stock abroad. As a result, federal funding ( Buy America Act ) was not possible. As a result, United Streetcar, LCC was founded.
In 2009 the first streetcar vehicle built in the USA for 60 years, with the type designation United Streetcar 100, came to Portland (Oregon), this is largely based on the Škoda 10T, but has a modified front. 70% of the components come from American companies, thus fulfilling the conditions of the Buy America Act. Some components, such as the drive system, continue to come from Škoda Transportation.
